The wild boar is one of the most abundant big game species in Spain. Adult Male can weight approx. 110-330 lb / 50-150 kg.
The body of the wild boar is compact; the head is large, the legs relatively short. The fur consists of stiff bristles and usually fine fur. The colour usually varies from dark grey to black or brown, but there are great regional differences in color.
During winter the fur is much more dense. Adult males develop tusks, teeth keep growing continuously and protrude from the mouth, from their upper and lower canine teeth. This is a defensive weapon. The upper tusks are bent upwards in males, and are regularly ground against the lower ones to produce sharp edges.
